(the street next to the church) or leave your car inside the underground car park (Park Mazzini) located in Via dei Bacchettoni.

By Train
The Lucca Train Station is directly connected to the main Tuscan provinces and tourist locations such as: Pisa, Viareggio, Montecatini, Pistoia, Florence. You can check connections and timetables at the website of the Italian State Railways website.
From the train station to IMT
There are two possible ways to reach IMT from Piazzale Ricasoli, where the train station is located:
you can take a taxi just outside the station or, if you prefer, you take a 10 minute walk using the following directions. After you exit the station, cross Piazzale Ricasoli and the road around the walls.
Then take the sidewalk in front of the station. Cross the grassy area and go toward the walls. Continue on the path up onto the walls. Once you reach the top of the walls, turn right.
Pass the Ristorante-Caffetteria San Colombano on your right. Continue along the wall for 5 to 8 minutes. Take the first left, a slanting path down into the city center.
Turn right at the bottom of the slanting path. You will come up to the Botanical garden and see the street sign for Via Micheletto. Turn left on Via Micheletto.
This street will curve around the garden to the right until it intersects with Via Elisa.
To the main IMT building (San Francesco, 19): cross Via Elisa and take Via S. Chiara,
then go straight until reaching Piazza San Francesco. Here at n° 19 you will find the San Francesco reception.
To legal headquarters (Sede Legale Piazza San Ponziano, 6): turn right on Via Elisa to Piazza San Ponziano,
which you will find on your left. Go under the archway and cross the courtyard. You will see the glass doors of the main entrance at the end of the courtyard.
How to move around
By car
20 km from Pisa and 70 Km from Florence, Lucca is located in a suitable position to get almost everywhere in Tuscany within few hours. The historical center (mainly a pedestrian area) is closed to private vehicles. The best way to visit Lucca is, actually, on foot. There are many parking lots located near the principal access routes and public transport facilities: you can check on the map the most convenient parking for you.
By train or bus
If you don't have your own mean of transportation you can rely on Clap buses (tel. 0583-5411 or 0583-587- 897) or Lazzi buses (tel. 0583-584-877). Both lines are based at Piazzale Verdi. Clap is dedicated to local transportation (within Lucca province), while Lazzi destinations also take you outside the province. A scenic railway line ducks in and out of tunnels alongside the Serchio River - you ride under an arch of the Devil's Bridge - and goes out onto the Lunigiana plain to Aulla.
